Integrative Health Care Project

Simposium entitled "Integrative Health Care - experiences in practice" which was held November 2 and 3,2009 was the first activity within the international project "Support to the development of integrative health care in Serbia." The goal of simposium was to  point out the advantages of systematic cooperation with practitioners of traditional (alternative and complementary) medicine,especially addressed to doctors from primary health care. Partner of the Section on the traditional medicine of the Serbian Public Health Association was the Primary Health Centre"Stari grad". First part of the conference, which was dedicated to primary health care doctors, was opened by the  Minister of Health, prof. Dr. Tomica Milosavljevic. Meeting was held at the ceremonial hall of the Municipal Assembly of Stari Grad,attended by about 200 participants,guests and exhibitors. Italian partners in the project: Dr.Sonia Bacceti, Director of the Regional Referent Centre of Tuscany for Chinese traditional medicine, Dr.Elio Rossi, Director of the Regional Referent Centre of Tuscany for homeopathy and Dr.Fabio Firenzuoli,Director of the Regional Referent Centre of Tuscany for phytotherapy presented their work, as well as 18 Serbian practitioners of traditional(alternative and complementary) medicine.In addition to homeopathy, traditional Chinese medicine and phytotherapy,attendans have learn  experiences from chyropraxis, macrobiotics, radionic medicine, biorezonant therapy, Bach flower therapy, yoga, reconnection, Reiki and family schedule.

Second day meeting was dedicated to issues related to the health care system and its organization, held in the Primary Health Centre"Stari grad" with the presence of about 80 attendants. Italian participants in the project were talking about their experiences in integrative health care practise within the public health care system.

During their visit ,Italian members of the project had on unhindered birth. The meeting was attended by representatives of civic initiative  named"Mother Courage". As a result of this meeting it was decided that team of Serbian experts would visite Tuscany in order to learn information of their experience with the uninterrupeted birth.

Next activity in the framework of this project is to survey primary care doctors about their attitudes regarding the traditional (alternative and complementary) medicine.
